FAQ'sHow will I find out if I am selected for a Beta or Delta Test Program?
If you are selected to participate in a program VOC-online will contact you by E-mail. Most likely you will be asked to complete a secondary screener that will be focused on the product we will be evaluating. You can review our Events Calendar to find out when we will be notifying people for future programs. Please note that our schedules are an estimate and subject to change. If you are not selected, your information will be retained for future test programs. If you choose not to participate in a program, you can let us know after you are contacted. At any time, if you would like, we can remove your information from our database. Please contact VOConline at hpproducttest@voconline.com with the word "Remove" to the subject line to have your contact information removed from our candidate pool.

What if I don't know the answer to a question on the application?
It is important that we understand your computer set-up and product usage to determine if you are the right person for a Beta or Delta program. Some of the questions on our application must be filled in before we can accept your information. Required questions are noted on the application. We encourage you to answer all of the questions to the best of your ability. If you are not sure of an answer, please research the information and fill out an application at a later date.

How much time will I spend if I participate in this program?
This depends on the type of program you participate in and how much you enjoy working with new technology. As a minimum for a Beta, you should expect to spend about 2 to 3 hours with the HP team if we visit you at your home or office. This would include our team observing you set-up and install the product and software. In most cases we will ask you to keep the product for a couple of weeks and have you document your experiences. We expect that you will spend 2 to 4 hours each week using the product and completing our evaluations. For a Delta program, you will go through the set-up and installation process on your own. This should take around an hour. We will provide a Web based tool to request support or log any issues you discover. During a Delta program we will ask you to complete about one survey every a week. This will involve using product features that you may not have already tried. These survey exercises will take 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete. In both Beta and Delta testing we encourage you to fully exercise our products.

If I submit my information am I automatically selected for a test program?
No, we select our test sites from a pool of screened candidates. Selections are based on product specifications, program requirements and customer demographics. No one is ensured a spot in a program.

Do I get to keep the product when I am done testing?
It depends on the type of testing you are selected for. Beta testing occurs before products are ready to be sold, and they are still under development. For this reason, the ownership of Beta test product is retained by Hewlett-Packard. Beta Tester’s who complete the program will be shipped a product free of charge when the product becomes available for sale. This could be 4 to 5 months so hang on to your existing equipment. HP will provide this product only after the product is available commercially. Delta testing occurs later in the design cycle when the product is ready to sell. Delta sites are compensated by keeping the product they test.

Can I choose whether I participate in a Beta or a Delta test?
Our selections are made based on the next available program so your availability for either program will increase the likeliness that you will be selected. Please let us know immediately if you choose not to participate in a program for which you are selected.

What if I am unable to complete a Beta or Delta program?
Our expectation is that you must complete the test program to be eligible for the compensation. We understand that in some situations you may not be able to complete a program. Please let us know a soon as possible so we can work something out with you.

Will I be taxed on my compensation?
The law requires that we only report to the IRS if you receive money, products or services from Hewlett-Packard equaling or exceeding $600 in a calendar year. All of our products fall under this limit. You will be taxed on the value of the products if you participate in multiple programs in one year and the value of the combined products exceeds $600.

Can I participate in more than one test program?
We prefer not to use the same people in more than one of our test programs.
